Qbi Devlog Update 10/10/25




Greetings!
Life has been hectic over the last year or so since the latest significant update to this game. Getting hired, getting fired, multiple trips, a game jam, and more... But I persisted, and now I can finally introduce the 0.4 update, with a brand new location for the island of Boya - Flaming Springs.
This hotspot resort area is known for its therapeutic thermal springs heated by a nearby volcano! Don't get too comfy, as the springs can get overheated while the volcano is active.
In addition, many changes big and small have been made. Some bosses now have more attacks, others move or attack differently, and every single one now has weaknesses to specific player powers (find them all!). Certain enemies also have brand new abilities, player's powers have been tweaked, boss health is now visible and many, many, many bugs have been swatted. Complete list of improvements can be read below.

- Autumn Hills boss arena has been changed to have zig-zag walls
- Mount Hilaya boss now moves vertically as well as horizontally
- Olive Beach boss has two new attacks, and his arena is now larger
- Mozania Jungle boss now gradually loses feathers from shield as it uses them to attack player
- Super Dash can now be used to smash breakable obstacles
- Pingu now chases player
- Frosty now rapidly throws smaller snowballs when player gets close
- Hiye Skies hot air balloons have a new square design
- Player animation transitions have been adjusted to be smoother
- Collecting a boss power pickup now provides information about freshly-aquired abilities
- Autumn Hills first checkpoint has been removed, and second checkpoint has been moved
- Olive Beach first and fifth checkpoints have been removed
- Music now plays during and after boss defeat
- Controls screen in the main menu now displays explanations of unlocked abilities only
- Purchased health, attack and ammo upgrades are now marked more clearly
- Prices for health, attack and ammo upgrades have been adjusted to be cheaper
- Bug fixes
- Player no longer rotates after defeat while touching rotated platform
- Autumn Hills boss no longer gets stuck on walls
- Olive Beach boss no longer floats after getting hit while rising from sand
- Hiye Skies boss no longer keeps floating up after player defeat while returning up from slam attack
- Final boss no longer gets stuck on jagged ceiling during phase 3 of the battle
- Platforms no longer erase player upon getting destroyed
- Factory Press no longer defeats player while down
- Score after boss defeat now remains the same even if player dies before collecting power pickup
- Carny now always faces toward player
- Hiye Skies metal platforms now always get electrified upon contact with Volty
This game has come a long way, but there's still a long way to go. Up next is redesigning the final level to account for newly added player powers. Until that's ready, peace out.
